Standard Co is a small café in Bebek, Istanbul, designed as a calm yet characterful retreat from the city's pace. Though modest in scale, the space is layered with intention, where soft transitions, tactile finishes, and a curated soundscape define the atmosphere. At the center, a rounded island made of wood and ceramic tiles acts as both a service counter and social core, while above it, large built-in speakers and a record wall bring the presence of analogue music into the heart of the café. The surrounding walls are lined with open shelving that holds books, bags, and curated objects, giving rhythm to the space and softening the vertical boundaries. The furniture is simple and tactile, chosen to invite ease and comfort without visual clutter. Lighting is tuned to shift the mood from daylight clarity to an intimate glow in the evening. A palette of oak, textured plaster, and muted textiles anchors the interior in warmth and coherence. Outside, a few street-facing tables subtly extend the experience into the neighborhood, making Standard Co feel both familiar and distinct, a place where design, music, and daily life meet.
